Squeeling With Excitement Over Here!

Holy, What a difference a day makes with 4 Busick men under one roof! Our house is seriously making progress thanks to John, Mike and Grandad Larry, oh and Jack! Here's what they accomplished just today. Above photo- garbage disposal hooked up and kitchen sink plumbing finished.

Crown molding in living room, dining room, and hall way completed.

Jack LOVES hanging with the guys, no really, HE LOVES IT! He's so interested in what they're doing and makes a point to watch them and give them smiles the whole time. Grandad Mike installing the toilet, Jack approves as it IS his favorite pass time (to his mother's dismay).

Jack getting into mischief, making a run for it during our photo shoot visit.

Jack: maybe if I stay really still she won't notice me....

John and Grandad Larry cutting the crown.

Jack helping Daddy.

And the moment of truth....the first flush went well! Toilet and vanity installed!

Kitchen tile grouted!

Bathroom looking good :)

Can you tell I'm excited, more photos of our tiny bathroom.

Crown molding done! I cannot believe how much they accomplished today, I am VERY grateful for all their hard work! As you can tell by my over use of exclamation points! We're getting there, people!

Is That a House I See Under All That Construction?

The protective sheets and cardboard have been removed from the floor and bathtub, toilet is in and the vanity is almost plumbed. It's looking like an actual bathroom in there these days. The shower is all grouted and we just need to attach the shower fixtures. Wow, I cannot believe how close we are getting to LIVING here!

Mike getting the plumbing ready for the sink top.

"Dad, I'm ready for my bath."

Sink top for bathroom vanity.

Jack has a thing for toilets, and I actually don't mind him playing with this new one. I think he's in heaven. Vanity without the hardware on, need to add the pulls.

Light fixture in the eat in area of the kitchen. We think it'll be more of a play area and we'll use our dining room for dinner time. We'll see once we actually get in and settled.

Team Grout

Appliances have been delivered and are looking mighty fine fully clothed. I can't wait to see what's hiding beneath all that plastic!

All the tiling is done and today we are grouting the shower. We are SO excited that grout makes everything look better and hides little imperfections (not that we're amatures or anything), we are fully embracing our Team Grout status and how much better tilers grout will make us appear.

Grandad Larry is back and tackling the cabinet crown molding. Looking good so far!

"Dad, want some help grouting the shower?"

Grandad Mike worked on making the master bathroom a little less pit like.

Jack approves of dad's grout job!

In other news...we returned our hall bath vanity and upgraded to a larger size with more storage for only $40. Once we took it out of the box and had it in the space we realized we could upgrade in size...YEAH! Especially excited about this because it'll be our main and only bathroom until we can get to the master bathroom. Here's the one we got-

The toilet is in, but we need a new gasket so after a HD trip tomorrow it should be up and running. Also on the agenda for tomorrow is finishing the cabinet crown, crown molding throughout the house, cleaning up the house a bit, grouting the kitchen floor and then we wait for the grout to set for 48 hrs and apply a sealant. We'd like to get appliances in once that's ready. John's already pushing off our projected move in day of Monday or Tuesday and saying "next weekend"... at this rate we might live in the house by Jacks 2nd birthday :) I haven't given up hope yet....naive me ;)

Thumbs Up All Around

The last cut has been made and the very last tile has been set in the kitchen! On to operation grout! John did a great job and I love the way it turned out. This weekend we focus on grouting, crown molding (Grandad Larry came back up to help with that), installing the toilet and bathroom vanity (hopefully), installing garbage disposal, and finish bathroom tiling. This is a tall order considering I will be with Jack most of the weekend....go-to Granny is taking a well deserved weekend with Gram to visit Jen in Oregon.

Done and DONE!

Getting my tiling on with my beer shelf, er...I mean soap shelf.

Shower is almost complete, we have 4 more rows to finish on the plumbing wall (left side) and then it's on to grouting.

Sneak peek of bathroom textiles :)

And here's the slide in that we ordered yesterday. It should arrive in about 2 weeks. So if we do, in fact, move in sometime early this coming week I will be harnessing my inner river guide and cooking on the Coleman stove for about a week or so before it arrives. Our new fridge and dishwasher will be delivered to the house tomorrow! SOOO excited for those to get all hooked up. Forgive the MINI photos, but the site would only allow me to copy them at this size, gives you a LITTLE idea of what we're working with.

Here's to another weekend of work, 2 months going strong...

What a Week!

Don't worry we're still moving and a grooving over here despite not posting for almost a week! I have heard from many of you so sorry to keep you waiting :) Once we were all nursed back to health we were able to get a lot done around our little home. Here's what's been going on-

The kitchen was vacuumed out and unpacked.

Pretty rose in our front yard.

We ran into another (major) issue, dun dun, dunnnn. Our new appliances were purchased on Black Friday at a steal of $723 for a dishwasher, gas range and mount microwave. Well, it turned out to be too good to be true when we brought them into the kitchen this weekend and found out that the range stuck up past the bar a good 5 plus inches, so while at the bar or in the living room you'd be staring at the stove back. John said that he WILL NOT have that and so we begin our quest to try and return/exchange them tomorrow when they are open. WISH us luck. This, however, will surely put us past our budget because I am sure we will not score such a good deal this time around :( After further research, I've discovered that the only range that will work is something called a slide in range. AND of course they are MUCH more expensive than regular ranges, however, they look pretty sharp....more on this later this week (grimace).

Bar pendant in all their lit glory.

Operation unpack has begun.

Jacks room.

Sink almost all hooked up, still need to install the garbage disposal and attach the spray hose at the end of the faucet.

Tiling in the kitchen and bathroom shower were the weekend focus and we are almost half way done in the kitchen and about 75% done in the shower area.

Still need to tile the eat in area and the office.

Our pattern.

Ahh, the shower :) This has been my undertaking, along with Mike at the saw making sure each tile that had to be cut was done so correctly. It's turning out much better than we all expected, I hope that continues as we tackle the plumbing wall and area above the window. Then we install the vanity and toilet which, knock on wood, should be pretty straight forward.

Our corner shelf

New bathroom fixture.
Well, we're almost there and think that we'll be able to move in Sunday, Monday or Tuesday...depending on appliance updates. WISH us luck, we'll need it. Thanks for being patient, we hope we delivered!
